Generations 2019 War For Cybertron And Probably More Leaked Via Amazon Listings

It's the new summer tradition - Getting large swaths of upcoming toyline leaked and ruining a great many surprises carefully plotted out for the upcoming year. As it was almost exactly one year ago when the entire standard retail Power of The Primes lineup was intentionally leaked to the internet, this year we have a ton more listings coming probably accidentally from Amazon Australia giving us not just a look at what's likely coming our way in War For Cybertron: Siege, but probably Studio Series and a little bit of Cyberverse, too!

We can suppose it's a small blessing that none of these listings include any pictures, so the degree of ruin being had is much more limited than what happened last summer, but this is still pretty substantial. All of these items join the presumed new Micromaster packs we talked about just recently and what we believe are small Cyberverse toys. Let's take a look at the new listings, which we've sorted by rough price point for easier consumption.

As you can see the bulk of these listings are taken up by Deluxe pricepoint items, all converting to about $20 from Amazon Australia's localized pricing. Thanks to a couple of these particular listings being marked as "Deluxe" we get support for the theory of displayed Australian dollar prices being merely converted US dollar prices, which helps us nail down where some of the others are meant to fall. This backs up the Micromasters being the upcoming occupants of the Legends price point, and lets us divide the majority of these listings among Deluxe, Voyager, and Leaders.

The Deluxes can be divided between fairly obvious Generations items, and probable Studio Series entries, with a couple of items that could honestly credibly go to either side until we get more details. Very interesting here is Deluxes of Cog and Sixgun, seemingly looking to add some elements of completion to Metroplex and Fortress Maximus several years after the fact. We also have the promise of a new Ironhide, which it's my opinion is Generations and not Studio Series, due to being part of the same assortment numbering sequence with Cog, as well as a new Hound. Hopefully, finally, this will be the Ironhide they get right.

A Prowl and Sideswipe round out these listings. Of note, Sideswipe is listed with a different code number (E3726) than the Sideswipe reveal from Gameinformer (E3520). This might be a listing for a later redeco of the figure, perhaps in the oft-requested black G2 colors. We can hope it will be that, and not instead just some battle damage deco variation. A new Prowl could also be a welcome sight, with the last Prowl attempting to capture a strong G1 likeness now being a full decade old and generally not well regarded these days. And given what Hasbro is calling "Cybertronian" with Sideswipe, it feels like there's a good chance of this being a viable successor to Universe Prowl.

The questionable entries includes Crankcase, which while most likely a redeco or retool of Studio Series Crowbar, we can't entirely rule out the G1 Triggercon. Crankcase is joined by Drift, which also could easily go to either side of this debate, and ...Hightower, which just confuses things even more. Let's look at a history of Hightowers: RID 2001 had the Autobot Hightower that was part of the Landfill combiner. Subsequent to that, Hightower has become a Decepticon name. The previous Classics use was for one of the Energon Constructicon redecos that made up Classics Devastator. On the movie side of things, there was also a Constructicon Hightower in Revenge of The Fallen. Barely. None of these cases seem like strong contenders for revisit in either Generations or Studio Series. A new application of this name to some other character whose original name could not be secured may be possible. Or along a similar line, Hightower might refer to a character associated with the Bumblebee Movie and be someone entirely new. Unfortunately we just don't have the information right now to make a call. The only concrete info we can offer is that based on product codes, Hightower shares an assortment with Drift.

There's a lot of code named Deluxes that are easily attributed to being movie product, and thus most likely Studio Series. Not codeed, however, are another Barricade, as well as Dino! If you notice Dino and Barricade are both sequentially numbered and so probably wave-mates, we can presume this Barricade would be in the original design seen in both DOTM and the 2007 movie, with both figures probably having "Battle of Chicago" backdrops. Dino's (AKA Mirage) only prior Deluxe toy was a TakaraTomy-only retool of ROTF Sideways, so this might point to finally getting an official toy that actually resembles the character, a noteworthy accomplishment for Studio Series.

Otherwise, we have the Deluxes filled out with "Nitro Blue Lt 1", "Greenjackets", the instant classic "Woodducks", and "Red Lightning". Identities for which will probably have to wait until we get some official reveals. This isn't the first time we've run upon Red Lightning, though - the other instance sporting a different product code, suggesting it's a character with at least two appearances.

For Voyager level at $30, almost all the listings look like they can be assumed as Generations. Starting with the Optimus Prime we had revealed this week, and following on with Megatron and Starscream who look like an assortment of their own, followed by Thundercracker, and a new Springer as a subsequent wave. Hopefully E3542 is just temporarily absent, and the plan is not to put out a solid case of Optimus Prime as an opening salvo. However, these are joined by a Bumblebee listing at the same price point. Currently we have no way to determine if that's another Voyager in either Generations or Studio Series, or maybe a Cyberverse Bumblebee coming in at a $30 level. We don't think right now that the others have a chance of being Cyberverse or anything else. Starscream and Megatron's numbering is very close to Optimus, and while not irrefutable proof, it does make it more likely to be subsequent within the same line. Thundercracker and Springer have more of a chance of throwing a curve ball, but we'll have to wait and see for how that develops.

Finally, we move to the $50 level. This includes two Optimus Primes, one of which is way far down in the numbering sequence. A little closer, we've got an Optimus and an Ultra Magnus that are one digit removed from each other, strongly suggesting wave mates. Others found at this presumable Leader Class pricing are another Megatron, Jetfire, and a Shockwave! The product codes for most of these are kind of all over the place, so we have no real good way to determine probability of Generations vs Studio Series vs Cyberverse or anything else. At the least the first Optimus and Ultra Magnus are probably Generations, for lack of a movie Ultra Magnus. But if Studio Series Shockwave were to be a thing, from the limited information I can dig up, it would probably be appropriate as a Leader Class for robot mode scaling within the line.

On the lower end, from $15-ish and below, we have a lot of classic names which are probably different kinds of Cyberverse products. But we also have some mysteries. Sub-$10 we have "Rockhounds" and "ACES" for which we have nothing at all to go on. Are these entries referring to Battle Masters, the renamed Targetmasters for WFC? Are they something entirely different? We simply have nothing more to go on right now. Similarly, "Stingray" and "Infantry" at the $15-ish level are head scratchers pending further information on what kind of toys might be offered at that level, such as if Generations will have a $15 price point added back in after Deluxe SRP goes to $19.99 across the board, or if there's supporting Bumblebee movie product that will settle at this level. SDCC might help fill in some blanks here.

So while this info dump isn't as concretely disastrous as last year's presentation slides that left basically nothing to the imagination and no questions other than the extremely sad "so what comes after wave 3 and 4?" we obviously have a lot of stuff dropped in front of us that was probably meant to stretch out for reveals as far forward as next year's Toy Fair. Given that it doesn't immediately look like there's a comprehensive listing at any pricing level, nor ones that lend themselves to conclusive judgement of what they represent, we can but hope that there's still some good surprises to be had as we move through from SDCC on to New York Comic Con and eventually Toy Fair. And hope that Amazon Australia manages to get this plumbing problem under control soon.
