Dune Runner - Movie - Figure

Dune Runner

It's hard to believe, but currently there's a bit of a lull going on with Revenge of the Fallen figure releases. The latest release is for Scout class figures, and this review will feature Dune Runner, Landmine's little brother... of sorts.

Back on Cybertron, most rolling surfaces are flat, lightly textured roads - perfect for speed and traction. It wasn't until he got to earth that Dune Runner experienced anything like sand or shale. He can't say he enjoys his new vehicle mode, but he appreciates that it lets him patrol the deserts and mountains, where many Decepticons have taken to hiding./p>

Robot Mode

Dune runner features a mostly army green paint job. His thighs are black, but his arms are a pastel blue color. There's also some silver and yellow spread about. The head sculpt is very well detailed for a Scout class figure.

Dune Runner carries 2 cannons on his shoulders. The cannons are pretty versatile, with ability to tilt completely up or down, as well as flip forward. This makes him one of the only Scouts with a weapon, always a plus.

Feet:Pin hinge, 90 degree bend
Knees:Pin hinge, 90 degree bend
Hips:Ball joint, 180 degree bend and 90 degree spread
Waist:Pinned for unlimited rotation
Shoudlers:Guarded ball joint, unlimited rotation, 30 degrees spread and 135 degrees flex
Elbows:Pin hinge, 90 degree bend

If you work with the position of the shoulder cannons, you can get nice shoulder articulation, making the only stiff point the head.

Rotate the waist 180 degrees. Pull his chest forward and sink the head into the body cavity. Push the haunches into the back of his feet, then fold the feet back to form the front end of the vehicle. Notch the forearms behind the arms. Lift the guns forward, then flex in the arms to form the vehicle sides. Position the cockpit with the hood to line up the windshield. Position the cannons to finish.

Alt Mode

Dune Runner's alt mode is a military off road buggy. He literally looks like a scaled down version of Landmine from the first movie series. The only difference this time around is that Dune Runner has the 2 cannons on the roof.

As well as being able to tilt up, the cannons can also pivot left or right to be closer to the vehicle sides. A small detraction, but the open cockpit shows his hands (as well as a steering wheel) and the windshield never wants to line up perfectly to the hood. However, being this is a scout and there's already so much packed into this figure, it's forgivable.

Alt Mode Specs

Length: 3.88in/98.6mm
Scale Ratio:N/A

Robot Mode: A scout with weapons is always a plus, good articulation to boot.
Alt Mode:Alignment problems with windshield, open cockpit a bit TOO open.
Overall:One of the best Scouts in the line.
