Voyager Starscream - Movie - Figure

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Voyager Starscream

Class: Voyager
Retail Price: $23
Bio: The moment his sensor net registered MEGATRON going offline, STARSCREAM knew the battle was over, and the AllSpark lost. He converted to vehicle mode and boosted for outer space, hoping to buy enough time to rally the DECEPTICON survivors. Returning from CYBERTRON bearing the marks won during his reign over the DECEPTICON army, he is focused on conquest. With a new army behind him, he has the strength to pursue his own goals, and perhaps, when the time is right, bring MEGATRON back

Vehicle mode (Lockheed Martin F22 Raptor)

Definitely an improvement over 2007's Voyager Starcream Mode. His Jet mode is much sleeker than last time and is also much more realistic. This starts with the landing gear, the landing gear has to be the best I've ever seen the front ones are fully retractable the rear being somewhat disappointing with just two flip down molded wheels. The tail fins are once again on a ball joint, his face his hidden this time around although the hands are visible from behind, but what I do is fold the hands up, hiding them from sight from any angle except the back

The Colouring of the jet is a tan colour a little deeper than last time and also much nicer in my opinion. The Cybertronian Markings are fine I suppose but they do ruin the jet modes overall aesthetics. A normal version please? Hasbro?

He doesn’t have much in the way of playability in this mode with the missiles place under his wings and no method of firing them (the launchers face backwards, so they don’t count)

So overall while the jet mode lacks in The Playability Department it more than makes up for it by looking quite accurate although the Markings and the hands detract from an otherwise perfect jet mode

9/10

Transformation (Easy)
To Transform Starscream to robot mode follow these instructions.
1) First take the missiles off
2) Fold up the Front landing gear (Flip up the black wheel and then fold it in)
3) Flip up the Back Landing gear (simply flick them in)
4) Fold the Wings down (Grab them and pull them down not forwards)
5) Bring out the Bottom of the Jet (It comes with the wings) and leave it there
6) Fold the Nosecone out
7) Starting from the Behind Split him to two (no, no don't tear both sides off)
8) Pull the two sides around, his head should be exposed now
9) Flip the two jet mode Panels up (the ones in the behind)
10) Rotate the Tail Fins so that the Gearing is Exposed
11) Bring both Tail Fins in until it *clicks*
12) Bring the legs down
13) Fold the Rear Wings in half and Twist them around
14) Extend his Arms and turn them around
15) Extend the legs
16) Bend the Exposed part of the leg back
17) Rotate the lower leg and flip the feet out
19) Take his 'Backpack' and swing it down
20) Fold his wings in half and then Fold again and swing the Wings behind

Robot Mode

The Robot mode too is a step-up to the previous offering, He is shorter than last time but he has the same width and looks generally more movie accurate, His head looks like it’s made for piping but it does not let (Much) light through, the Wings are folded away on his behind and look much better than the original. The Panels on his Lower Torso can be positioned in many ways. He also has hands while not being the most poseable appendage in the TFverse is quite detailed and looks very nice. The box mentions something about “Pop-out Missile launchers" But his Launchers don’t "pop out" and why they removed this feature remains a mystery to me.

His Mech Alive Gimmick in this mode is activated by moving his head, every time his head is moved the gears move on his chest. For an unnecessary feature it works quite well and looks rather cool. As for other features he has a gun in his hand which launches the two missiles quite far.

While his arms and torso are quite good, his legs are not the best they could be. Because his feet are tiny (this does NOT affect stability) and look quite week, while I realise that the thin legs are movie accurate the wafer thin behind the knee area is not. This problem that could be solved very easily for a company like Hasbro, the tiny feet happen to be quite annoying especially with Sideways.

Poseability Is Good in this figure, Starscream is capable of taking a wide range of poses in this mode even some one legged ones (If you can manage it). The only troublesome thing is the lack of spread in the legs. You can’t make him stand in one leg the conventional way, you have to retract one leg and move it up from the hips.

Overall this figure has a lot of poseability and features. And for once the Mech Alive gimmick works! Except for the legs the Robot mode is awesome
7.5/10

If you don’t have any Movie Starscream This is the Starscream to get
If you have the 07 Starscream I recommend this, but it’s all personal choice
Out of ROTF figures in general I highly recommend him. He is a worthy addition to you collection.
