Land Military Team - Armada - Figures

If you buy no other minicon team, then for the love of all that is holy, make sure that it is the Land Military Team. Holy Moses, it is REALLY impressive how much of a leap in quality can be viewed in just the FIRST FRIGGIN' WAVE of figures. If Land Military team is what we can expect of future waves of minicons, bring it on! These guys are so much like little pint sized Vehicons, it just amazes me. All three of these figures are great, and suffer from none of the weaknesses of the other two. Snag 'em! Especially if you liked Spychangers and Micromasters.

Knock Out

Knock Out is a mustard yellow six-wheeled missile launcher. I can't shake the fact that he really seems to have an uncanny resemblance to none other than Blastcharge. Like I said, pint-sized vehicons. The missile launcher seems a little over sized (The missile is huuuuuuge!), but it's all good. Also worth noting that of all three of these who have the "projectile firing" gimmick as their unifying theme, this is the only figure that's got an actual trigger. Cool little vehicle though, nice and detailed. Got enough paint aps to keep it from being completely boring, but not much else.

Transformation is pretty easy to figure out. Sides become the arms, back end of the truck unfolds into legs. Crank the missile launcher over to the side to reveal the head (Which can already be seen from the vehicle mode, actually. It's just turned sideways.

Robot mode's cool looking. Kind of like a variation of G2 Megatron, honestly. His face is way lacking though, it's just a red thing that looks like an engine block. No discernible eyes, mouth, anything. But like I said, these are like tiny little Vehicons. Industrial war machines, they have no need of mouths, mwa ha ha ha ha! Heh heh. On mine his right arm has a hard time staying lifted up, but rotating it a little keeps it from trying to fall back into place. He's pretty stable, in spite of his gigantic missile and launcher. His arms rotate at the shoulders, and his legs move back and forth at the hips and knees. His waist also moves back and forth, but that's a feature of the transformation more than a point of articulation.

As cool as I think he may be, he's probably my least favorite (Despite being hailed by some as the best of the three). Least favorite doesn't mean bad though, as this is still one bad ass little guy. Go Knock-Out!

Bonecrusher

Bonecrusher is the missile truck. You know, the truck with the super huge missile launcher on it! Unlike Knockout though, there is no trigger. It's a pressure release missile; press on the back end until it fires. Oh well. While Bonecrusher is an awesome figure overall, I think his vehicle mode is perhaps the weakest of the three in this pack. For starters, his fist is clearly visible behind the cab of the truck. They didn't even bother to try and conceal it. Plus the nature of his transformation leaves a couple gaps right in the mid section of the truck. The missile launcher can cover one of them, but the other is in plain view. Bummer. The missile launcher is mobile in this mode, it can swivel back and forth, and move up and down. Keen!

I'm sure you've all heard by this point how unique Bonecrusher's transformation is. Well, that's because it is! My only problem with it is that parts seem to get in the way of other parts. Every time I transform him, I think I'm going to screw something up and break it or something.

In robot mode he looks a LOT like a TF version of Triclops from the He-Man series! Pretty interesting. I also like how his missile launcher has become his right arm in this mode, it's certainly a neat twist. My only problem with it is that it is WAY to long. they could have taken half an inch of the launcher and the missile and it still would have looked fine, plus he could carry it straight down without leaning on it. Who knows though, maybe he wouldn't be balanced then and he needs the missile as a tripod for stability. Oh well.

Bonecrusher has a nice range of movement. Both his legs can move back and forth at the hips and knees, plus his left arm can rotate at the shoulder, and move back and forth at the elbow. He's got quite a big fist, actually. He could probably lay the minismack down if he wanted.

Wreckage

Poor Wreckage. So many consider him to be the weakest of the three, but in actually he's my personal favorite. His vehicle mode is a green mobile SAM launcher, I guess you'd call it. His treads don't work, but he's got tiny little wheels so he still rolls. Much like Knock-Out, he's got enough paint aps so that he's not boring, but not a whole lot else. 'Course adding any more probably would have made him look a lot more busy, or possibly obscure some of the sculpting details.

Transformation is the least complex of the three. Move the missile launchers down to the side, flip out the front section, and that's about it. But I'll be damned if I don't love his robot mode all the same. In a tiny little detail, his legs are designed so that in robot mode he stands with them spread. It's a tiny little touch, but it goes a long way towards increasing what little dynamism he seems to have in his appearance.

Wreckage REALLY looks like a Vehicon to me. From the apparent lack of hands (He actually has hands! They're molded on the side of the missile launchers) to the industrial aesthetic, an up sized version of this toy would have been right at home in Beast Machines. I like the fact that his arms are on ball joints, it lets him strike some groovy poses that are beyond the rest of his minicon buddies.

Overall
Get 'em. Get 'em now. Or as soon as possible, since it's not available in many areas yet.
