Nitro Bumblebee - Dark of the Moon - Figure

seems like we're getting a new Deluxe mold Bumblebee with every new wave hitting stores. As the newest batch of figures hit the shelves, we are now faced with a THIRD Bumblebee. Except this one is heavily modded and ready to take names.

Bio

With his mix of loyalty, smarts and fighting skill, Bumblebee is one of the most admired Autobots. his vehicle mode gives him the ability to attack Decepticons just as quickly as he can rush to the aid of a fallen Autobot comrade.

Alt Mode

First off, there have been so many Bumblebee molds that I can't tell if this is an original, a retool or a repaint. It's definitely the most radically styled Bumblebee to date. The Camaro is now accented with plenty of bolt-ons, including a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber door panels and twin thrusters protruding from the trunk.

All the wheels and the grille are blacked out, while the glass is done in a dark translucent blue. A massive engine ports into the hood of the car. There are 4 other ports to plug in MechTech weapons from other figures. Two are on the hood, while the other two grace the quarterpanels. By pulling back the lever on the engine block, it converts to a double-barreled rifle.

Alt Mode Summary: A vehicle mode that Mad Max could love.

Transformation

The transformation is yet another take on how to turn a Camaro into a robot. It combines elements from a couple of different mold types. You know, to break up the monotony of transforming Bumblebees like 3 dozen times.

Robot Mode

From the front or back side, this is a pretty nice Bumblebee. All the limbs and abdomen are set in black, which gives him a different look. However, from the side he's a bit of a mess. The roof and trunk don't flush up to the body, so there's plenty of gap. The head is piped blue, but the eyes are painted in.

You can plug the MechTech weapon into either port on his forearm. Also, you can use the port behind his head if you move the hood piece up slightly. Extending the MechTech weapon can be a bit tricky, as it seems to catch on itself at the halfway mark. It's all in how you hold it.

Value

With so many BBs out there already, it becomes hard to assign a value. On the plus side, all the limbs and parts look stable and strong enough. However, not everyone will be on board with the looks.

Summary

Dear Hasbro, with all the fine characters you have in the Movieverse, I think you can give poor Bumblebee a rest. Leader class, Human Alliance, Cyberverse and now three deluxes? It's becoming overload! Make more of those off-screen characters that we all seem to dig so much!

Final Verdict:

Class:Deluxe

MSRP:$12
