Demolishor & Blackout - Armada - Figure

The only Armada Decepticon with a totally original name, Demolishor is already a fan favourite, lovingly deemed the illegitimate pirate spawn of Metroplex and Machine Wars Soundwave. Fifteen Mini-Cons on the dead Autobot's chest. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

BLACKOUT

Car Mode: Measuring about 4.5 cm(1.8") long, Blackout appears to be some time of armoured assault car. His main colours are red, beige, and silver, with orange viewports and gun barrels and grey wheels. A radar dish flips up on his roof (hence the name Blackout) and his guns rotate.

Transformation: Flip out the robot legs.

Robot Mode: Blackout is one of the larger Mini-Cons, coming in at an imposing 6.6 cm(2.6") tall. His face consists mainly of a metallic silver plate, his faction symbol and Powerlinx connector are located on his chest, and instead of hands, he has guns on the ends of his arms. Articulation consists of ball-jointed shoulders and hinged hips and knees.

For a little guy, Blackout looks pretty tough. An appropriate partner for Demolishor.

DEMOLISHOR

Tank Mode: Demolishor is an anti-aircraft tank armed with twin double-barrelled missile launchers and twin five-barrelled laser blasters. With missiles loaded, he measures 13 cm(5") long. Main colours are beige, red, and gray, with brown flame decos on his fenders, metallic silver for his lasers and front panel, and, of course, a purple Decepticon symbol. The turret rotates and the launchers can elevate to an angle of about 50 degrees. The treads don't move, but have four small wheels mounted in them, allowing Demolishor to traverse hard surfaces and carpet.

Blackout can either man the control chair at Demolishor's rear in robot mode or attach in front of his turret in car mode. Pressing a small button in between the turret and the control chair launches Blackout from his slot. Due to some force of physics (I nearly failed high school physics, so please forgive my lack of explanation) Blackout will often spin around to face Demolishor, as if to say "Now that I'm free, I'm gonna shoot you, sucker!"

Demolishor has four Powerlinx points located on his launchers and blasters, but only the one on his left launcher is a live one. Attaching a Mini-Con to it and then pulling back launches both missiles for a distance of about two feet. The right launcher, sadly, is only for additional missile storage. In addition, Demolishor has a decidedly lame base mode that's formed by unfolding the treads.

Transformation: The most complex of the first wave Decepticons. The treads become legs, launchers and blasters become arms and hands, turret slides open, and robot head flips out.

Robot Mode: Demolishor stands 14.5 cm(5.7") tall at the head, 20 cm(7.9") with the missiles sticking out of his shoulders. With his massive chest and narrow waist, it's no wonder some fans think he's related to Metroplex. His laser blasters have become his fingers, which is neat to say the least. His head is beige with a black face, white snarl, a green left eye and a green patch over his right eye. The paint has been applied very poorly on mine, but hopefully this isn't the case with everyone's.

Demolishor has a handle jutting out from his waist, however, his long heels make him perfectly stable. He's articulated at the shoulders, upper arms, elbows, waist, hips, knees, and ankles. Blackout and other Mini-Cons can be attached to the dead connectors on Demolishor's forearms to function as weapons. The left launcher still fires in this mode, of course.

Overall, Susp Sez: Demolishor is one sweet toy. The anti-aircraft tank is a welcome change from the standard tanks that have been seen so frequently in the TF line, and has fun gimmicks. The robot mode look great and has reasonably good poseability. Definitely worth getting. 9/10
