Blurr & Mini-con Incinerator - Armada - Figures

As of this writing (01/10/03), Scavenger, Blurr, Supercon Prime, and the Adventure Team STILL haven't shown up around here, so yesterday I took a trip across the border in New York state. Found Blurr, plus acquired a supply of Peanut Butter Crunch, my all-time favourite cereal (which is conveniently unavailable in Canada).

INCINERATOR

Dragster Mode: As his name suggests, Incinerator is a type of nitro dragster, bright blue with dark blue wheels and canopy and yellow-orange engine and spoiler. At just over 7 cm(2.8"), he's one of the larger Mini-Con cars. His Powerlinx socket and faction symbol are located on his underside. Looks pretty good except for a fist showing on his left side.

Transformation: Legs flip out, arms swing down.

Robot Mode: In robot mode, Incinerator stands a little over 5 cm(2") tall. Silver with cyan limbs and a red visor, he is articulated at the shoulders, right elbow, hips, and knees. The front portion of the dragster hangs off his right forearm as a combination melee weapon/shield, and is big enough to protect almost his entire body from attack. And since his shoulders are attached to the same bar, you can get a little battle action going by moving one arm.

While not the most poseable Mini-Con, Incinerator is quite nice.

BLURR

Car Mode: Appropriately, Blurr is a futuristic sports car, very similar in appearance to Lightspeed of the Technobots. Measuring 14 cm(5.5") long, he's mostly silver with translucent yellow windows and headlights, yellow-orange missiles, metallic silver hubcaps, bright blue, dark blue, and yellow accents, and airbrushed black scorch marks along his sides. Needless to say, Blurr looks sleek, swift, and powerful. He doesn't roll quite as well as I'd like, however, having almost no ground clearance whatsoever. His spring-loaded canopy flips up to reveal the back of his robot head and he has two dead hardpoints on his spoiler.

Flight Mode: Push Incinerator nose-first into the slot beneath Blurr's spoiler and his sides pop down to become wings (11.5 cm[4.5"] wide). You can also activate this mode by pushing back on the yellow-orange tabs on either side. Attaching a Mini-Con to the live hardpoint on either of the wing-mounted launchers and pushing it forward fires the missile about a foot and a half. Since excessive force is required to launch the missile, you really need to hold onto the launcher in order for it not to pop off the wing.

Transformation: More complex than I anticipated, involving the sliding and swinging of panels in the right order. Make sure to leave his wings deployed, otherwise he falls over backward.

Robot Mode: Blurr stands 12.5 cm(5") tall at the head, 14 cm with the canopy on his back. His body is mainly bright blue with assorted dark blue and yellow orange parts and red accents, including an Autobot symbol on his chest. The front of his head is translucent yellow painted over with blue to give him a robotic race car driver appearance, complete with metallic silver exhaust pipes on his temples. His hands are open palms instead of the standard closed fists. Vehicle kibble consists of massive shoulder pads and a huge backpack. His missile launchers attach via holes in his forearms.

Blurr's poseability is iffy. His head turns, his arms raise out to the sides, his elbows bend 180 degrees, his hips spread apart, and his thighs swivel and bend backward.

Overall, Susp Sez: Blurr is a fairly good toy. Great-looking car mode, nifty flight mode, involved transformation, satisfactory robot mode, good Mini-Con partner. Certainly worth checking out. 7.5/10
