Probably the best decision Hasbro made for G2 was to make Megatron's new alt mode a tank. Like Megatron, a tank doesn't take s*it from anyone, except for an Apache helicopter.
Vehicle Mode: No longer a Walther P-38, Megatron is now an M1A1 Abrams tank. 18 cm(7.1") long including his main cannon, he's mainly purple with black camouflage markings, blue and chrome treads, black and blue main cannon, a garish orange bellows, and two 13 cm(5.1") long black and blue air pressure missiles that attach via flip-out slots on either side of the turret.
Meggy rolls along nicely on four small wheels. A hole on the roof of the turret allows you to attach his small gun as secondary armament. On the turret's front are stickers of Decepticon sigils with crossed bones (arrr, matey) for and the code "D-X053094." And on the very front of the tank, between the treads, is a large sticker that reads "MEGATRON RULES!", complete with notches to indicate kills. Apparently, Meggy has pounded, crushed, or blown away no less than 22 Autobots. Not too shabby. His main gimmick is his air pressure missile launcher. Slide one of the missile onto the main gun, detach the bellows and then slam your palm down on it, and the missile fires up to about two feet.
Transformation: Very straightforward. The sides of the turret fold out to become arms, legs flip out from the rear, lower torso swings down, main gun slides to one side, and head flips up.
Robot Mode: Meggy stands about 15 cm(6") tall at the head, 18 cm with the cannon and bellows. He's still mostly purple, with silver forearms, waist, and thighs. His head is silver with a lavender face, pink eyes, a narrow nose, and a sinister expression. His small gun fits into either fist. Overall, a very powerful, evil-looking robot indeed.
Probably the best thing Meggy has going for him in this mode is poseability. He's articulated at the head, shoulders, upper arms, elbows(hinge and swivel), waist, hips(ratchet joints), and knees, making him one of the most poseable Megatron toys ever.
A grey, white, and olive "Combat Hero" Megatron was also planned for G2, and at least six toys were made, but it was never officially released: https://rapido-online.net/g2archive/misc/unreleased/heroes.shtml . In addition, a yellow, green, and gray version named Bludgeon is slated for release this year as part of RID.
Overall, Susp Sez: One of the best Megatron toys ever. Small enough to be easy to play with, big enough to be imposing, good gimmick, nice colours, great poseability. A winner of a toy for a loser of a character. 9.5/10
