Red Alert - Armada - Figure

I wonder why Armada vehicles are generally very big, it's weird to have Sideways next to RID Magus because Sideways is huge in bike mode. Anyway, review time-

SUV mode: Red Alert is a white, gray and slightly red SUV, clearly a vehicle design that would look great next to an ambulance (hint, hint) Transformer (hint, hint, hint, Hasbro and Takara, hint, hint, hint).

He looks rugged, very rugged, like he would be used for mountain rescue. He looks really good in this mode actually, solid looking even though he isn't. He has some detail, like the Red Cross symbols near the back and the Autobot symbol on the bonnet.

He has four power links in this mode, two dead ones on his doors and two live ones, one hear the back of his SUV mode that activates sounds if pushed forward and then sounds and his missile/grabber launcher flips up and lands almost gently on his windscreen. The power link on his hood can be used to fire a disc, if you use a mini con of course.

He has sounds, not a lot, but their better than nothing I guess, his best one I think is his 'Red Alert! Red Alert!' followed by sirens sound. Also he's a good weight, not too heavy, not too light, just right.

His one clear window is a deep red, you can see into it, not that there's anything special to see. His other windows look painted or like stickers, not sure. His front grill is good, a solid looking bumper with yellow headlights and red indicators. There are the normal kind of details you would expect from a mountain vehicle as well.

He has a flaw though. Where his feet fold and his legs twist, there's a power link that's used in his robot mode. That power link actually seems to make his left leg unable to fit right and stick out, not that it hinders the toy at all, but it does look like the mold needs a little work there.

So other than the problem with the leg, this mode is fun, very fun, makes me think of those large pre-school toys you can find for toddlers. He does fall apart a little easily though, so he's not one for knocking hard against anything.

Robot mode: A few twists and a couple of clicks later and you have this thin at the bottom, thick at the top robot looking at you. The colours are almost the same as his SUV mode, but this time with the addition of blue arms and legs that stand out quite nicely. You can remove his launcher as well and use that as a weapon/grappler, also if you flip his right leg side down, you'll find what look like laser scapels or something. You can slot one into his left arm where you would think a hand would be and he does look like a medic, a tall one.

His face looks grim, as if he has bad news to say. His eyes are red, looks like a visor of some sort, maybe sees medical stats with it which help him work. His one hand can hold his launcher or the Star Saber, you can slot the Skyboom Shield on a power link on one his doors, the left one being the best option. He has five power links, three dead and the two live ones from his SUV mode, plus you can flip his left leg side down to show a small mini con repair bay.

He can be posed, not easily, but you can give him a pose if you try. His head can turn, not something that happens a lot with Armada, and his arms have a good range of motion, so that's nice. Red Alert is pretty good in this mode, makes you think of Rachet with a new look actually, he's nice.

I would say think about getting this one if you don't already have him, he has a nice few features that can be used in both modes, looks good, is good to play with and is something that is rare for a Transformer, a medic. Worth adding to a collection I would say, he's not perfect, but he's not bad at all.
