Scourge - RID - Figure

Why does the US have to get the best TF's and we in the UK are lucky if we even see a pack of mini cons? It's a silly thing to do and it lowers profit for Hasbro, holding back TF's just for the US is silly and pointless.

Truck mode: Black, blue, silver. That's his main colours and also his red windows, looks excellent and it clashes with anything. His wheels are plastic, shame they're not rubber, and he's huge. His length makes displaying the toy hard, so maybe have his trailer angled to the right or left. He's also a fair weight because of his trailer. Since he's a repaint of the old 1995 Laser Optimus Prime, then he has the showings of Prime's old lighting features. They've been removed though, but the button is still there, just doesn't do anything. But then having those kinds of gimmicks would only cheapen this toy, why would Scourge need gimmicks like that? He's better off without them.

I really, really like this mode. It's big, powerful looking and makes battles a lot of fun. One day, I'll have Scourge trying to be king of the road(carpet) with a race against Prime, one day.

Robot mode: Before I do that, I'll explain his tailer. After you remove his trailer, there's a small tab that you can press after you upcap the front of the trailer that almost transforms the trailer completely. A little more manual work(yes kids! We used to use our hands to play with Transformers!) and the base is made. It looks impressive enough. It has plenty of missiles, even though the air bladder doesn't work with me and the rubber tips cheapen the effect somewhat. Also where the cap was for the trailer, the base tends to look like it's trying to lift off. Not a great base mode, just heavily armed and serves it's purpose well.

Now for Scourge himself. A very easy transformation and you have Prime...sorry Scourge, standing in front of you in all his red eyed glory. And he looks big, very big. His colours are mostly the same as his truck mode, so no changes there. It's his resembalance to Prime though that you first notice, it's like seeing a dark mirror version of good old Optimus.

Scourge's arms can be posed in almost any way, same with his legs as long as the ground is flat enough. The head can turn, but it's a shame that it can't look up or down, would make for even better poses. His torso can also turn and that can give more good poses. Shame though that he's so loud when you move his legs, torso and arms though. The rachet system is a pain at times, so maybe a Scourge made with the ball joint system would be a good idea in the future. A fun, if not perfect, toy, battles are great with this guy added.

He was overhyped, the hype made him seem to be perfect, but it takes playing with it yourself to know if it's perfect or not and it isn't. His sword, which slots under his cab in truck mode, is very nice, a very nice red and he can use his multi missile launcher and his laser cannon in robot mode away from the base he has. But as much as I hate to say it for being considered odd, Scourge is not perfect, he's anything but that. He is a worthy addition to a collection, he's a highly fun toy to play with and he has two excellent modes and an ok base. He is very rare now because of him only being a US only toy, my fiancee in the US sent me one as a very belated birthday gift, belated as in almost a full 4 months belated. Worth buying and owning, just not the perfect toy that he's made out to be.
