Skywarp & Thunderclash - Armada - Figures

The third and final installment of the Seeker Jet Trio has arrived after such a long wait. While I don't have Starscream or Thundercracker (yet), I can tell you that this is not just another repaint.

SKYWARP: Skywarp is both Black and Purple (just like in the G1 series). He has some yellow, red, and gray details as well. Some differneces in vehicle mode include the fact the His back lower wing section has some fans on it which I didn't notice on the other 2 jets, and there is a "fin" so to speak on what in Robot Mode is his head. Also, the front of his jet bends down slightly (I dont remember that on the other 2 jets. If they in fact do have fronts that are bent down slightly, please let me know). Anyways, the front can be used to attach his mini-con to. You can then press down on the cockpit to drop the mini-con and also activate a sound.

TRANSFORMATION: Again, I don't have Starscream of Thundercracker, but I will bet that Skywarp's transformation is pretty much the same. Twist around his legs, then snap them up into his upper body, which cause his head to pop up. Then just fold out his arms, rotate his wings, and your done. In his robot mode, he is nice and tall, well worth $20. My only gripe is that while his arms are pretty poseable, his legs arent. You can only rotate his legs, not move them apart.

GIMMICKS: In robot mode (as well as Jet mode), Skywarp can fire two missles. To do this you will need to load the launcher's missles, and then attach Skywarp's mini-con onto the Power-port in-between the launchers. They will flip forward into attack position. Then just press the buttons to fire the missles. Another gimmick is his sword, which is actually his wing. Detach and fold out the wing to have his sword. It looks kinda cheesy, and I know Hasbro could of done better. I don't really like my sword. If I tilt back Skywarp even the slightest bit when he holds the sword, the mid section of the sword folds back. Plus, these gimmicks are exactly the same found in The other 2 jets. Subtract 1 point for that.

THUNDERCLASH: Skywarp's mini-con is.....nope! Wrong! It isn't a car this time. This time it is a jet, and quite big for a mini-con too. He is mostly gray with some purple and black touches.

TRANSFORMATION: To transform Thunderclash, fold down the legs, then fold down the front of the plane. Move arms into place and your done. He is pretty tall for a mini-con making the Skywarp figure even more impressive.

OVERALL: I would say that if you only are able to get one of the seeker jets, get Skywarp. He is definately the most unique of the 3 seeker jets. (And if you get 2, get Skywarp and Thundercracker cause I heard the sword doesn't fit very well in Starscream's hand). With a unique mini-con, and some unique details like the fin on his head and fans on his lower wings, Skywarp is definately the best of the 3 seeker jets. Now get up, turn off your computer, Go to a toy store, and buy Armada Skywarp. You won't be dissapointed.
