Starscream - Energon - Figure

I was very excited when I heard an Energon Figure was going to be made of Starscream, and eagerly bought a MIB online. When it arrived in the mail, I noticed several things immediately.

First, instead of having semi-clear parts, his were a translucent moss-green. The red was more of a maroon color, and the gray parts were darker as well. Not exactly the colors I thought he would be. Green? On Starscream? I can only hope that Takara makes a color/show acurate version.

Then the real fun began when I took him out of the package. Jet form was excellent, as expected. Then I decided to try and transform him. It started out easily enough, or so I thought. I got to the part where you are suppose to swivel the foled arms/shoulders forward (directions, part 5), and guess what? There isn't enough room for the arms for fit thought the back piece! I struggled carefully with him for several minutes, before giving up and getting my screwdriver out. I had to remove part of his back, then fight yet again with the arms. It took some swearing and careful teasing, but I manageged to get the arms in the desired position. Putting him back together again, I completed his transformation.

He's got something in his design that looks like battle damage. Rather unusual. Plus, he looks odd with two different colored shoulders. One gray and one translucent green, with lime green paint.

I have to admit, the robot mode is quite nice. It's almost a blend of G1, Armada, and War Within. The only possible drawback is that the green parts are made of a diferent sort of plastic that is more breakable - so be careful. Weapons are ok, if not a little too big.

Head sculpt is great. Looks like the Armada Starscream, but more detailed. If you hold his head up to the light, hsi eyes glow green. That's right....Starscream has green eyes.

The figure and weapons just aren't the same quality as before. Different plastic? Doesn't seem as durable.

As far a posability goes, his articulated enought that he's fun. 5 points of articulation just in the arms.

He's a great figure, but unless you feel like a hassle every time you want to transform him, it might be worth it to purchase two Starscream's. That way you have both modes and don't have to worry about breaking him.

Has anybody else had a problem with their Starscream?

All in all, he's a great figure. But due to the colors and transform, I'm only giving him a 7 out of 10.
