Energon Strongarm (repaint) - Energon

Well, it was only a matter of time until I found Offshoot's packmate, Energon Strongarm :) An interesting note is that this figure has been tagged as a USA Edition in JP, meaning he may not make an apperence in the show That's probably a good thing as this repaint, while much different from the orginal, does NOT improve on it at all.

Vehicle Mode: Energon Strongarm is a type of jeep, but in colors you'd never see on a real one as its main colors of dark sky blue and touches of orange and silver adorn this mode. It looks alot more vibrant compared to the orginal Strongarm, but not necessarly more pleasing. Like Offshoot, E Strongarm's energon is a different shade from the orginal as now its a pinkish red energon (like Signal Flare's) 6/10

Robot Mode: Here's where this repaint really looks off. In RM, alot more orange is apparent and that's NOT a good thing. E Strongarm really looks like he came out of G2 or a bad Universe repaint as the colors are just off. Again orginal Strongarm wins here. Like Offshoot, E Strongarm did recieve a additional paint app (where as Offshoot had several additional) in that on his legs some silver detailing has been added, but it doesn't look that great as it doesn't match up with the earthy silver on the rest of the figure.

An interesting note is the fact that this mold is actually the remolded Super Link Strongarm mold, meaning he has a new face. This face seems to have a thinner nose as well as a stotic expression.

With that and the fact that the colors used are enough to make him look different from the orginal Strongarm, I guess he does the job as being a new and distinict repaint. Too bad its not a good one. 5/10

Overall: Unlike his packmate, this is not that good of a repaint at all. Just screams G2. Still, the remolded face as well as the different colored energon are nice bonuses and considering its only a basic, he's not that bad if you want to satisfy a TF craving. Still, probably best for die hard Strongarm fans *cough* DEFUNCT! *cough*. Its a shame, such a great mold deserved a better repaint (why the hell is the Ironhide repaint getting Hound's colors? Strongarm mold was PERFECT for it!) 6/10
