Sharkticon - Energon - Figure

Sharkticon is another of the new wave of Energon toys that has been highly anticipated, along with Slugslinger. Ever since Tidal Wave came out in Armada, the Decepticons seemed to have been building up a naval battlefleet, and Sharkticon continues this proliferation.

Submarine Mode Sharkticon's vehicle mode is a futuristic shark-shaped submarine. Some of the features of this mode, such as the rocket thrusters on the rear and the turrets on the side, suggest that Sharkticon's domain is not just the deep sea, but also deep space, similar to Tidal Wave. In this mode, Sharkticon is mostly black in the front, with some purple and yellow. He also has some green on his rear and side fins.

One of the most interesting features of Sharkticon's sub mode are the turrets. He has two double turrets on his dorsal front as well as one double turret on each side. All four turrets spin, and the guns can elevate up and down. The turrets themselves are very tight in their spin, as they are held in place by a spring mechanism.

Sharkticon's submarine hyper-mode consists of pulling open the front sides, revealing his large missile launchers. If you pull the sides out all the way, such as is suggested in the instructions, it looks somewhat awkward, but you can also elevate the missile launchers.

In addition to his built in sub weaponry, Sharkticon also has quite a few extra ports. He has a pair of hyperlink points at the rear, on the side of each thruster. He also has a total of 5 holes for energon weapons: 2 aft dorsal, 2 dorsal-midship, and 1 forward ventral.

Robot Mode Sharkticon's robot mode loosk quite intimidating, despite his colors being somewhat more garish in this mode, with a lot more yellow. He has good articulation, and his joints are pretty tight, even at the shoulders, which could potentially be floppy with the way they connect.

The parts that were his thrusters in sub mode now form gauntlets in his robot mode. They are facing the opposite direction, but still look like they have some sort of laser weapons. The gauntlets look like they were planned to be removeable, but were eventually glued in. I'm actually glad they decided to glue them onto the arms, as they could have potentially been loose.

Sharkticon's robot hypermode consists of pulling out the front parts of the submarine bow, which now form a sort of cape behind him, and rotating these parts so that his missile launchers face forward. This makes him look very intimidating, as his larger turrets are now to bear with any targets in front of him.

Sharkticon was the Energon figure that I was most looking forward to over the past months, and he has not disappointed me.
