Swerve - Cybertron - Figure

There seems to be alot of G1 names being pulled out of the hat lately. The latest name is Swerve, a G1 Throttlebot. In this case, Swerve is a hard edged and short tempered racer on Velocitron. After reading his bio, you almost wonder how he aligned himself with the Autobots.

Alt Mode

Swerve is basically a repaint of Clocker. The mold is exactly the same, but the new colors are a welcome sight. Swerve is mostly red with black and silver accents. One noticeable difference beside the color change is that Swerve wears an Autobot insignia on his hood. Although an open air racer still looks awkward, the new color arrangement make it look somewhat more plausible.

His Cyber Key mode is also identical to Clocker's. Insert the key into the back slot and the sides pop up creating a turbine boost. Or, if you wish, you can flip out the barrels of the exhaust and make cannons of them. Nice dual play there. His transformation sequence is somewhat tricky. You just need to remember to open the trap doors for his legs and get his arms and head to line up and lock right into the chest. It's not terribly hard, though.

Robot Mode

His robot mode is also identical to Clocker's albeit the color changes. He is mostly red with a white chest and some gold trim near the shoulders. He has decent poseability, albeit his legs and feet are pretty stiff. Just a bummer those exhaust pipes can't serve more of a purpose. They are removeable to give him a cleaner look, if you wish.

The Cyber Key function works the same here. The gun is thankfully proportional to him. The figure is aesthetically more pleasing than Clocker, but it's debateable if looks enough warrant having him in the collection.
