Deluxe Swindle - Movie - Figure

As mentioned in an earlier review, Hasbro is seeing fit to liven up the figure offering for the movie with figures not directly related to the movie. One of these figures is Swindle, a Decepticon who doubles as a loose cannon.

Alt Mode

Swindle has the alt form of a sports car. Hasbro didn't secure licensing for all the product, which is a shame. Would have been nice to have continuity in that, as this could have easily been a Pontiac G5 coupe or something. But I digress. Swindle is red with silver door decals and a big silver Decepticon insignia on each quarterpanel.

The overall design of the vehicle is good, but like Bumblebee the seams tend to take over the look, especially in the back. This ruins the aesthetics a bit. However, Swindle does pack a punch back there. A press of a button on the rear window and a huge cannon pops out the back. How a rear mounted cannon helps is beyond me. I could see it as a rocket booster perhaps.

In a refreshing twist for this line, Swindle has a familiar yet unique transform sequence. He also possesses an automorph feature. When the windshield is pulled out of place, the head automatically flips forward.

Robot Mode

Swindle's robot mode comes off looking a bit clunky. Red is still the primary color, with a lot more gray showing primarily in the limbs. His head is nothing more than a camera eye of sorts. They could have at least given it some more decor.

Points of articulation are as follows: Feet: rivet joint, 90 degree rotation. Hips: rivet joint, 90 degree vertical rotation. Hips: ball joint, 90 degree vertical and 45 degree horizontal rotation. Waist: screw joint, 45 degree rotation. Shoulders: ball joint, unlimited vertical and 90 degree horizontal rotation. Elbows: screw joint, 150 degree rotation. Head: Stationary. While not perfect in the posing department, there's more than enough to work with to get some decent poses off.

The cannon in his chest also expands outwards using the same switch now located on his back. To find the switch, peel his roof back a bit, it's located on the bottom of his pelvis. This is actually a better figure than I thought it would be, but it's still one of the lesser offerings brought forward so far.
