One thing to note on the packaging is a slight style change. Beyond the tabbed silver emblazened with "25 years 1984-2009", there is also a "25" molded into the clamshell on the upper left. Beachcomber gets a very nice update, and the legend class fits the minibot sizing to a tee. In general, Beachcomber is instantly recognizable from his G1 form. Differences would include the black thighs and darker blue paintjob.
The head sculpt is a perfect representation of his G1 anime likeness. Overall, the look is great. As with legends, the articulation is limited. The legs are set up great, with full knee bending and ball joints on the hips for a wide range of poses. However, the arms are rigid. The shoulder are set up with a pin + ball joint due to the transformation. Overall, better than average poseability. To transform, pull the legs down from the waist. Flip the seats out from the bottom of his feet, then flip the lower legs into the thighs. Push the arms in and forward to complete the process.
The alt mode is also a great throwback to G1, if not a bit more modern. The wheels are now fendered and a spare tire sits behind the seats. Curious to note is the machine gun mounted on top of the spare. Being that Beachcomber is a pacifist and his firepower ranking is only 1, you have to wonder about why he would have a machine gun. The gun is molded on and cannot be used in robot mode.
Other simple details include the shock assembly on the rear wheels and the silver cage type rollover bar protecting the cockpit. With Beachcomber, the Legend class is certainly making a call to be noticed.

With the deluge of Bumblebee variations lately, you'd think Hasbro had a guilty conscience for leaving him out of the universe so long. This time around, we get a Legend class look of his updated G1 body. In a way, he captures alot of the charm of his original G1 form.
Unfortunately, that charm also includes bad articulation. There are no knees, elbows or shoulder spread. You must solely make due with ball jointed hips, hinged feet and ball jointed shoulders that simply rotate. To transform to alt mode, flip his backpack up to cover his head. Rotate the arms down then collapse them into the body. Connect and fold down the feet, then push the waist down and back so the feet can fold up against the windshield to form the front end.
In a way, this alt mode closely resembles his Animated form. Even the packaging lists his alt mode as a "street racer". Perhaps espionage didn't pay so well. He certainly has the look with the wide grille on the front end.
Besides the painted on headlights and windows, there's not much detail to go around. However, it is a very clean looking car. The only question now is if you really need another Bumblebee this bad.
The Legend class figures have been showing some fantastic improvement in the looks department lately. In this case, you have a hard hitter and a possible walk. With Beachcomber, it should be a no brainer buy. However, Bumblebee is simple and mundane enough to pass over without any regret.
