Leo Prime - Universe - Figure

After the repaint of Legends Leobreaker, Leo Prime (or Lioconvoy) gets a full size incarnation. Unlike the Legends version, which mimics the coloration of the original Japanese figure, this version is in more traditional Prime colors. While I would have liked the figure in the Lioconvoy color scheme, the new colors work nicely, and accentuate the Prime/Convoy status of the character. The Leobreaker mold works nicely as Leo Prime. The new robot head is an angular variation of the usual Prime design, reminiscent of Fire Convoy.

The electronics from the original release have been removed, but the Cyber Key features are retained. The claws work well, and echo the flip-out claws on the original Lioconvoy. Pushing a button on the beast mode head causes Leo Prime's jaw to open, another feature reminiscent of the original Lioconvoy. Unfortunately Hasbro chose to put the Autobot symbol stamp on the button, meaning the symbol will eventually be worn off. Finally Leo Prime retains the Savage Claw mode, although I haven't attempted to attach him to Cybertron Optimus.

Although not the greatest design, I like Lioconvoy, and the Leobreaker mold makes a good update. IF you can't afford the original, this version is a decent substitute. The beast mode is even about the same size as BWII Lioconvoy.
